The much much-anticipated annual Athletics Carnival was held on Friday July 25th. Students didn’t let the cold weather hold them back, with some fantastic performances out on the track and field. A special highlight of the day was the shattering of a 35-year-old school record in the U/14 Girls Discus – with Reannon Robinson launching an impressive 24 metres! The Sharks took the lead early, led by their energetic and determined house captains Lexie Francis and Emily Hustwayte. Despite strong efforts from the Falcons and Eagles, they couldn’t quite close the gap; crowning the Sharks as champions once again! This victory completes a remarkable trifecta for the team, who also claimed top honours in the 2025 Swimming and Cross Country Carnivals.
A huge congratulations to the Sharks, their captains, and House Leader Libby Nicol, but also to every student who gave their all today: whether running, jumping, throwing, or cheering from the sidelines. We also proudly recognise our School Spirit Award winners, who stood out as role models of Integrity, Empathy, and Commitment: Jaye O’Leary, Jasmine Cupples, Elijah Van Daal, Rubie Watson, Kye Woods, Ava Dewey-Medwell, Ryan Telling, Sydney Kee, Oliver Praetz, Vanessa Beenck, Khaedyn McKay, and Emma Rich.
Age Champions for 2025 are:
U/13 Matty Selzer and Ruby Brett
U/14 Tom Selzer and Meg Baldwin-Bland
U/15 Seth Chandler and Zoe Hustwayte
U/16 Cooper Turton and Emily Hustwayte
U/17 Will Cook and Lexie Francis
18-20 Francis Kariuki and Lily Marazzato
A phenomenal effort from all involved! Students who placed first in their events, earned a spot at the Wellington Championships Friday August 1st. An enormous thank you to our incredible Health & PE team and Sports Coordinator, Candy White. Your hard work makes days like this possible, and we’re so grateful. Let’s carry this momentum and house spirit into the rest of the term!
