Yarram & District is a part of the Wellington Shire. There is one Secondary College in Yarram with four feeder state schools and one catholic school.

There are many sporting facilities available including football, netball, cricket, lawn bowls, tennis, squash, golf and swimming.

Each year, there is a number of community events held, including the Tarra Festival at Easter, a dance eisteddfod in May, a speech, vocal & instrumental eisteddfod in August and the Annual Agricultural Show in November.

The school curriculum also includes collaboration with many community groups and primary schools, including: Yarram Community House, Crossley House, Yarram Landcare, the Men's Shed,supporting the local primary school interschool sports and schooling events and more.
