On Wednesday, the Unit 1/2 Biology and Environmental Science classes were invited to work with Wellington Shire Council on a regeneration project in Hiawatha. Students did a fantastic job planting various species of native grasses and shrubs to help prevent erosion of the river banks and to improve the environment for our local animal life. As part of the day, students also collected samples of leaves and bark in order to investigate slime mold back at school, and leaf litter that we plan to look closely at in the Scanning Electron Microscope which we will be lucky enough to have on site at the beginning of Term 3.
