Students and staff from Yarram Secondary College took part in both local ANZAC Day ceremonies yesterday. At the moving Port Albert ceremony, members of the cadets were part of the flag raising ceremony. And teacher Linda Bowden and student Emerald Watson lead the singing of the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems. Our very professional drummers helped lead the march down Commercial Road later in the morning lead by Saul Stainer included our school captains Hayley and Layton and Yr 12 student Ryan Zygarlicki carrying a photograph of his great great grandfather, Dave Daniel. Inside CRT staff member Paul Coad performed a moving self written song “I’m Sorry Mum”. Linda, Emerald, and Sarah Myers again lead the national anthems before the huge crowd moved out to the cenotaph to lay wreaths in memory of the lost.
It is a privilege for the school to be a part of these ceremonies.
