Exploring the richness of cultural heritage

Last week, our 2026 Year 11 and 12 cohorts travelled to Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place. This visit has become a rite of passage for our incoming Year 12 students during Headstart and is an opportunity to prepare for the year ahead. Students took part in cultural learning experiences and enjoyed a roast lunch generously prepared by the Wulgunggo Ngalu residents in a traditional Kup Murri.

We were also joined by 2025 Year 12 students Lydia, Hector, Will, and Lily, who presented Wulgunggo Ngalu with a special artwork created by students Lydia Trotta and Chloe Oakes, with support from YSC staff member Meg Williams. The piece features the YSC pelican mascot and was gifted as a gesture of thanks, celebrating the strong and ongoing partnership between YSC and Wulgunggo Ngalu.

Students were absolutely buzzing when they returned to school. While this was our final visit for 2025, we are already looking forward to what 2026 will bring
