Cricket is Catching On.

Year 7/8 Cricket:

On Wednesday 26th of March YSC took 12 keen cricketers over to Cameron Sporting Complex in Maffra to compete in a staged, round robin.

In the first game against Sale College, which was shortened to 10 overs a side, the boys battled the dew and a wet ball to contain them to 39 runs. With the inexperienced group, they were sceptical of what a good score would be!

Koby Jenkins and Lachy Johnson opened the batting and got off to a scorching start, with Koby hitting multiple boundaries, including a six. These two chased down the total without losing a wicket. what a start to the day!

Moving through to the next round against Catholic Collage Sale. We lost the toss and were asked to bowl, this time in a 15 over game. After the great start to the day, CCS proved their experience, and professionalism was too much for us. They certainly set the bar high.

Heads were held high when batting, with great efforts across the board. Especially against their fast-paced bowling attack. Everyone got the chance to have a bat, showing great potential for years moving forward!

After the loss, the day was finished off with smiles all round (and some KFC). It was great to see so many of the boys attempt a game they have never played before…..”It’s better than watching!” Hudson said.

I look forward to seeing the collage proudly represented in more cricket teams in the future.
