Ten senior Art Making and Exhibiting (AME) and Visual Communication Design students, Ms Miller and Ms Silvester were treated to hundreds of incredible artworks by some of the world’s most famous artists at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in July. The collection of works were part of the NGV’s Melbourne Winter Masterpiece exhibition called Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and are on temporarily loan from America. They are artworks that the NGV will only get a hold of once in our life time. Incredible paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Sisley, Renoir, Degas and more all in ten gallery spaces under the one roof. It was a feast for the eyes and an experience that made you lose track of time. However, our day had more, we headed through the streets of Southbank to the Australian Centre of Contemporary Arts (ACCA) were we moved through amazing sculptural, installation, film and photographic works in an stirring exhibition titled 5 Acts of Love. Once seeing this exhibition we all explored making our own artworks in a creative practical art activity.
Should you ever get the offer to attend an art excursion in your future schooling, jump at it, the cultural experience is rich.
