Yarram Students Impress At Wellington Division Athletics

On Wednesday the 22nd of August, two buses full of students travelled to the Newborough Athletics Track for the Wellington Division Interschool Athletics.

Upon arrival, many students were straight into their events and it didn’t take long before we started getting ribbons. Everyone participated with determination and did a great job in representing our school and made the day enjoyable for the staff who had come along. A massive thanks goes out to Jenna Rodaughan, who helped out with supervision and organising students so they didn’t miss there events.

The next stage is the Gippsland Interschool Athletics on the 20th of September, again at the Newborough Athletics Track. All the students who received 1st place in their events are invited to represent our school and in some events, those students who received a 2nd place will also be invited to attend.

Well done to all the students who competed, especially those students who received a first place in their events which include:

  • Joel Fear (Long jump)
  • Jarrod Vening (Discus)
  • Brydie Foat (Shot put)
  • Ben Betteridge  (High jump)
  • Louis Rodaughan (1500m and 800m)
  • Brendon Weston (Discus)
  • Taylor Gregory (Shot put)
  • Samantha Holt (100m and 200m)
  • Kyle Wyett (Javelin)
  • Luke LeBlanc (100m and 800m)

Many of the students were lucky to get a spot on the team after not having their permission forms in on time. This highlights the importance of getting permission forms and money in by the due date.
