We recently received a visit from Wellington Shire’s Youth Liaison Coordinator – Kayte Tetley – to encourage our students to consider nominating themselves for the Wellington Shire’s Youth Council.
Kayte was accompanied by three current Youth Councillors who spoke at our sub-school assemblies and outlined the opportunities available for our students to have their opinions and suggestions heard by the broader community and local government by becoming a part of Youth Council.
Successful nominees will be required to commit to Youth Council for twelve months and this will involve attending regular meetings and training opportunities. The Wellington Shire is very keen to assist in every way possible to ensure that Yarram youth are represented and well-supported and will make every effort to ensure that transport and access to these activities is not an issue.
Nominations open on 5th September and close on 1st October. Students who are interested in nominating themselves can collect a brochure from the front office or see Mel Mitchell for further details.
Application forms will also be available online at www.wellington.vic.gov.au.
