Wellbeing Day

On the last day of termthe school ran a student health and wellbeing day.  Yarram was the first Secondary School in the Wellington area to sign up for the Healthy Together Achievement Program.  As part of our commitment to the Achievement Program YSC will be holding a WELLNESS Day (Wellbeing, Empathy, Linking with peers, Linking with community, Nutrition, Emotional intelligence, Social skills, Support). Each year level was  provided with 4-5 workshop opportunities which  covered developing skills and understanding in self-awareness and empathy as well as practical coping strategies that students can use in response to life’s challenges.  Other sessions included mindfulness which included yoga, massage and coloring, nutrition  self-expression and self-defence as well as clinics run by elite athletes and coaches in football, netball and basketball.                                                                                                                                                       Students received some reflection time between each session.
Students were invited to wear casual clothes to school for a gold coin donation which will go towards the local Rotary Club’s ‘Lift the Lid on Mental Illness’ fundraiser and local families in need.
