On Monday the 18th we departed school and headed off to Sandy Point for 3 day surfing and kayaking camp. We arrived at Sandy Point Caravan Park and set up our tents. We unpacked then got our wet suits on and went to check the surfing conditions. We had to record the wind direction, wind speed, surf rating and tide times. It was good weather and we all tried our luck at surfing. We came back to camp and then cooked our first dinner.
The second day some of us got up early and went for a surf. We had breakfast and then set up the kayaks to go to shallow inlet. We went to Shallow inlet at about 10:30 and we split into two groups. Half of the group went and did basic kayaking skills and the other half went and played beach games. We all had a lot of fun kayaking and playing sports on the sand. We had a BBQ lunch then went back to Sandy Point. Some of the group went and played mini golf and the others went for an afternoon surf. We came back and most of the group had fish and chips and the others cooked their dinner. We watched nitro circus and roasted marshmallows.
The last day we went for another morning surf and majority of the group could stand up while surfing. We came back and had breakfast and started packing up camp. We packed the trailer and departed Sandy Point. We had lunch at Foster then headed back to school.
Overall it was a great camp and we learnt basic kayaking and surfing skills. These are skills we will use if we ever decide to buy a kayak or surf board.
