Grade 6’s from Yarram, St. Mary’s, Alberton and Woodside Primary Schools attended their first “college Experience” last Friday at Yarram SC. Over the next two weeks the students will attend YSC on Friday afternoons, then will spend 3 full days during head start, finding their feet at the school. Full their first full day the students were greeted by current year level coordinator, Jae Taylor and assistant Sarah Gregory, then spent some time on a scavenger hunt with some of YSC’s SRC students. the student were then broken into 3 groups to participate in a food, science and wood class with a bbq lunch in between. In Food tech they got to make and decorate a cake. Wood tech saw the students cut and chisel out a car and a plane. Science they learnt about different gasses and also made icy pole stick bridges to see what weight their structures could hold. The students will rotate through these 3 subjects over the next 2 weeks, with them participating in a normal time tabled day for head start. We wish all the students the best as they transition into the next 6 years of their schooling life.
