SRC Conference

YSC’s Student Representative Council kicked off the first of twelve VicSRC Regional Conferences that are happening across Victoria over the next few months, hosting over seventy students and teachers from nine other schools across Gippsland yesterday.

The ten YSC students involved all represented the school very well and we couldn’t be any prouder of them – a huge congratulations to Hannah Maciol, Kristen Sellings, Taylor Gregory, Aimee Moore, Emily Finn, Will Wilson, Hayley Hands, Chloe Finn, Marley Jonston and Anna Rodaughan! These students helped set-up, pack-up, greet and farewell the other schools, publicly thank the facilitator and participated in all of the activities throughout the day, not to mention help make some of the morning tea that was provided (thanks again Emily and Aimee).

A special mention also goes to Kristen who presented to the entire group about the VicSRC and Congress, something that we could all agree would be quite nerve-wracking! Kristen’s professionalism and enthusiasm for this was second to none, well done Kristen!

Facilitator Kate Wilde was brilliant in engaging and motivating the students and it was fantastic to feel the buzz in the room as the students interacted with one another. The students were involved in lots of activities across the day – some were more serious, such as identifying and discussing student issues in schools, whilst others were fun and light-hearted aiming to get the students mixing with each other and developing their leadership skills.

It was also great to receive positive feedback from the visiting students and their staff whilst the wandered around the school during breaks – the general appearance of our school, the friendliness of our students and staff and the extra-curricular activities that are offered to our students were all highlighted.
