Senior Year Levels News

Senior students in VCE and VCAL were reminded that they need to be prepared and attend all classes.  If they are ill then they should obtain a medical certificate.  Students should create a homework plan to ensure they meet all deadlines.  Developing this will be a main focus in Private Study Classes for Term 1.

SAC’s  (Student Assessed Course Work)

All Year 12 SAC dates will be placed on a central calendar by Year 12 teachers, by the end of Week 3 of Term 1.  If students miss a SAC, they must have a medical certificate.  Students were advised that if they fail a SAC, then their actual grade will stand but they may have the opportunity to repeat the SAC to hopefully gain successful pass for the outcome for the unit.  But this should be completed within a fortnight.  If students know they will be absent for a SAC, then they should negotiate with their teacher for an extension prior to the actual SAC date, not after!

Safe Food Handling Course

YSC are seeking expressions of interest from students who would like to complete an accredited Safe Food Handling Course through Federation Training. If we get enough interested people, the 6-hour course will be offered at YSC. The course will cost $65 per person.  Students will need to see Miss Demaria or Mr Dows to register their interest.

There was a reminder about the rules of the lunch room and that people with inappropriate behaviour could be asked to leave and not be allowed back for a period of time.  Recently, the kitchen was left in a disgraceful mess and Mr. Woods was appalled!

Cambodia Volunteers Parent Information Evening

Last year, our students had a rewarding experience of travelling to Cambodia to help out rather than attend a ‘schoolies’ event.  Year 12’s were advised that an information evening is organised for February 26th, at 6.00 p.m. in the Hot House.

Fund Raising for Valedictory

A table tennis tournament has been organised by Tyler, Cam and Louis as a fundraiser for Year 12 Valedictory dinner.  Anyone interested in entering should see one of these students.
