The normal Senior School information night and subject selection process, has had to be modified this year due to COVID 19 restrictions. This year we will be providing all subject information online, which you will be able to view with your child in the convenience of your own home.
To support this remote delivery of critical information, all students in Years 9, 10 and 11 will be given a Teaching and Learning Advisor and offered an Advisory Meeting to discuss and or review your child’s senior pathway plan. These meetings will be available to book on Compass in the same manner as you would a Parent Teacher Interview. You will receive a text message when bookings become available.
We strongly advise all parent to participate in the advisory process to gain an understanding of how VCE and VCAL pathways work, what differentiates them, and what pathway best suits different career aspirations. We also recommend that you take the time to watch all the subject video’s that are available on our website prior to your Advisory Meeting.
Here you are provided with small audio/visual files which will clarify the difference between The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), as well as policies relating to the structure of VCE and VCAL as set by the governing body of Victorian Education, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). There are also a number of short videos about each subject to help you and your child select subjects that will best match their interests and career aspiration.
If you find this information overwhelming or the process hard to understand, we would strongly recommend that you book and attend these meetings, where it will be explained to you in more detail. If you have trouble accessing Compass please call the front office to confirm your login details on 51825522.
