O.L.E. Official Farewell at State Parliament House

Today our Overseas Learning Group travelled to Melbourne for an official farewell from the Minister for Education. Many of us got up at 4am just to get into Yarram to get the bus to Melbourne at 5.15. Along the way we picked up the Neerim students and Mr Chester in Warragul.

We went to Parliament House for the farewell and had group photos taken. During the farewell Shawna represented our group in a discussion panel about the project we will be completing and what students were hoping to learn from the experience.

We then went to the Mecure hotel and participated in activities all afternoon. The activities were aimed at getting us thinking as Global Citizens and preparing us for dealing with the different cultures we will be experiencing.

We were able to mix with people from other schools that are traveling to other countries such as Tonga, Italy and Japan and here about the projects they will be completing.

Here are some quotes from the students:

I had so much fun today, but getting up in the morning was such a struggle. – Jade Roberts

The whole day was really good. The best part for me was when we looked at the world as one village of 100 people. It was interesting to see the facts and figures about the world. – Patrick Petterson

Today was awesome – Lauren Wight

Today was good with the activities we did. It was a really good insight to things that will be happening in China. – Shantaz Gregson
