Melanie Mitchell, our Wellbeing Leader was recently nominated and shortlisted for, a VicSRC Recognition Award. Melanie was nominated by Kristen Sellings (Class of 2016), Hayley Hands, Kaylah Hands and Casey Greening in the category of SRC Teacher of the Year. As part of the application, this group of committed students and ex-students had to reflect on Melanie’s enormous contribution to student voice at YSC, documenting her guidance, support and advocacy. It is a credit to both the depth of the application that the students wrote, which reflects the respect in which Melanie is held by the student body, and the worthiness of the recipient that Melanie has gone so far in her nominated category. After a special presentation in Melbourne last night we are thrilled to announce that Melanie was named the winner. Principal Brett Pedlow, Assistant Principal Lyn Kerrison, Ashton Webster and the nominating students attended the awards ceremony at Etihad on Wednesday night to see Mel presented with her award. We wish to congratulate Mel for her fantastic work and are proud of our students for publicly acknowledging her contribution to the health and wellbeing of our whole school community.
