21 Year 10 female students from Yarram Secondary College were given the unique opportunity to spend the day with 6 successful women on Thursday 06 September for the Beacon program’s ‘Lunch with the Girls’. The Yarram Country Club provided the venue for the girls to share stories and lunch with their female mentors.
The Mentors were Sara Gale and Jade Graves from NAB Agribusiness, Janette Carr and Tania Slater from the Yarram Kindergarten, Joanne Kosylo, who is a Social Worker from Melbourne and Wilma Price represented the Yarram Rotary Club. The day allows the girls to develop a relationship with women of different ages and backgrounds away from the school environment. The program encourages self-help in young women before they leave school to develop skills and confidence needed to achieve personal success for themselves and their community. The day’s focus is around self-awareness, motivation, gratitude and goal setting.
Beacon is a not for profit organisation that works with 120+ schools across the country to achieve an Australia in which our young people have the desire, the motivation and the opportunity to reach their full, individual potential.
