On Friday evening an excited group of senior arts students accompanied by their proud families and teachers attended the opening of FLOURISH. FLOURISH 2013 was a small but impressive exhibition featuring works from students enrolled in VCE Art, Studio Art, Visual Communication and Design and Media. Four of Yarram Secondary College’s aspiring artists and designers had work included in the exhibition; Lewis McQueen, Holly Jonston and Hayley Skews all submitted environmental posters produced in Unit 3 Visual Communication and Design and Nicole Hooper submitted two photographic sequences and a photomontage produced in Unit 3 Media.
“I thought the art was really good. There was a great variety of mediums represented and it was also good to see so many students from schools in the Wellington shire exhibiting their works. I really liked the 1000 cranes sculptural installation that explored the impact of the Hiroshima bombing and a pencil drawing portrait.” Dylan Hooper, Year 10
Accompanying Teachers: Helen Summer (Head of Art), Jessica Kurec (Senior Visual Communication and Design) and Lyn Kerrison (Senior Media).
