On 21st November, 9A went to Field’s farm at Greenmount Road, Yarram. We saw how to milk a cow using a rotary dairy. There is a lot more to do than just milk cows. The cows are brought in to the dairy and fed grain as they go around on the big platform.
Shelley, Barry and Nathan milk 385 cows and do work in the paddocks. They milk different types of cows. We saw Fresians, Jersey cows and Holsteins. We also saw little calves and Red dog. It was interesting to see how they washed down the dairy.
At the end of our visit everyone was given a chocolate milk.
