For a week each year all our Year 10’s go on work experience at various locations. The students are working in Yarram, Sale, Traralgon, Leongatha, Foster and two are even in Melbourne. The vocations the students have chosen are varied, including veterinary clinics, library, health services, trades, hairdressers, Esso, the RAAF base, hospitality, child care and more. The school runs the students to and from Sale and Traralgon, while others going down South Gippsland way catch the V/Line bus. By having all the students out the same week it creates less disruption to the running of their classes. Last year, which saw the implementation of them all being out together, a number of students were offered apprenticeships. The school is grateful to careers advisor Jo Darvill and middle school coordinator Ashton Webster for all the work put into organising the week and also the businesses who have taken the students on for this worthwhile activity.
