Cows Create Careers – the final update!

Did you know that you would have to eat 32 brussel sprouts to ingest the same amount of calcium that you would find in a glass of milk? You didn’t? Neither did I … but it was this gem plus more that students in VCE Food and Technology learned last week, when they travelled to Leongatha for the: Cows Create Careers Student Presentation Day.
Throughout the day, students from schools across Gippsland were pitted against each other in fun, yet educational activities and competitions. Students at YSC managed to win the inter-school cooking challenges on the day. Hannah, Dulcie and Christine made a: Cheesy Fruit Log, while Cassie, Pat and Morgan created a Layered Dairy Dessert. Also thanks to Hannah’s ‘juggling’ skills, Luke and Morgan were able to quickly decipher the questions that enabled them to win the ‘Puzzle’ quiz.
Although the students had fun completing the activities, the reason they were gathered, was for students to receive their scored assessment for the project, which was: Design Brief, Two-page Recipe and Newsletter.
Drumroll … and the winner is: Morgan Tatnell and Patrick Petterson! Morgan and Patrick produced a detailed Design Brief, trialed and refined a recipe for Lime and Coconut Crème Brulee, and produced a Newsletter that focused on: Dairy Nutrition. They received a score of 104 out of 105!
Miss Demaria would like to applaud the students who represented the school on the day, their behaviour was impeccable. Also congratulations to Morgan and Patrick, your hard work paid off!
