Beacon shines the way

On Wednesday, Beacon Ambassadors from around Gippsland gathered to talk about Beacon and what it actually is.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The Beacon “Mission” is to support young people to develop a positive pathway focus through engaging and influencing the attitudes and behaviour of the broader community. By harnessing community involvement, it works within schools to ensure young people are either earning or learning at vulnerable transition points in their lives.                                                                                                                                                                                                         Schools from Yarram, Trafalgar, Warragul, Traralgon and Leongatha meet at Moe Department of education and early childhood development to go through what Beacon is, learn the “Ins and Outs” and to see what the future was going to hold for them. We learnt about how important a simple handshake is and how networking with the community can benefit in so many ways.                                                                                                              Throughout the year the schools will be holding Mock Interviews, Polish, BBQ with the boys and Lunch with the girls. These are great opportunities for the community to get involved with the school.                                         It was a great day by all and by the end of the day everyone could do an impromptu speech on a random topic. Everyone had fun, made new friends and now knows what exactly they are involved in by being a Beacon Ambassador.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          For more information contact:
