This week our Year 10 students have all participated in the Beacon Foundation ‘Polish Program’.
Polish is a one day workshop that helps young people prepare for their careers through personal presentation and communication training, giving students the skills to conduct themselves appropriately when entering the world of work and throughout their employment. Core to the program is a sit-down lunch that gives students an opportunity to network with potential employers and use their newly found communication and culinary skills acquired in the morning tutorials.
John and Catherine from the Beacon Foundation did a wonderful job of facilitating the program and we are very grateful to the local business people who joined the students for lunch and participated in the goal setting workshop. Our guests were Deb Lucas (The Yarram Standard), Jim Wilson (CEO of Yarram District Health Service), Penny Earle (Principal, Yarram Primary School), Michelle Mitchell (Michael Allen Accountants), Michelle Graham (ANZ Bank), Bruce Aitkin, Frankie McLennan and Angie Gutowski (DSE), John Collins (Bendigo Bank) and Julie Jacobs from the Beacon Foundation.
